Decarbonization
The basic prerequisite for meeting the climate goals set by the Paris Agreement is reducing CO2 emissions. However, according to IPCC estimates, which are based on currently implemented measures, warming will definitely not stop at the “ideal” limit of 1.5 °C by 2050. Rather, it will exceed 2 °C. It is not enough to simply replace the diesel eight-cylinder cars in the company fleet with electric cars. The Advanced Czech Republic conference will provide recommendations and examples of successful projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in many other ways. Turn them into your own strategic project in accordance with the Net Zero Industry Act and take advantage of shortened permit periods and financial advice on European sources.
Circularity
The European Union plans to increase plastic recycling to 55% by 2030. But the circular economy is definitely not about colorful containers. Circularity means minimizing waste and maximizing resource use. How to integrate it into everyday business, close the cycle of material flows and turn waste into new products? You will see that abandoning the linear model is not only ecological, but also economically beneficial. And by the way, do you already know the abbreviation EPR? Let's talk about how to best implement the Extended Producer Responsibility policy in the Czech Republic.
Innovation
Sustainable economic transformation is impossible without innovation. The biggest technological topic of today – artificial intelligence – can also contribute. A PwC study shows that the large-scale deployment of AI can reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by up to 4% by 2030. At the conference, you will learn about trends in green innovation that can change your approach (and not only) to business. The development of technologies and the motivation of smart minds not to flee abroad are important ingredients for increasing the competitiveness of the Czech Republic.
Leadership
According to a study from Harvard Business Review, the primary task of good leadership is to build trust in the company. It states that when people feel safe, they show up to 50% higher productivity and 13% lower sickness. Fortunately, the ability to lead and manage correctly does not have to be innate. You can learn the art of healthy leadership, for example at our conference. We will shed light on what Inner Development Goals are and how to promote sustainable change with them.
Energy
By 2023, 30% of the world's electricity production will come from renewable sources. Moreover, alternatives to fossil fuels are becoming cheaper and more efficient. According to the International Energy Agency, the cost of generating electricity from solar panels has fallen by more than 80% since 2010. Let's discuss how to increase capacity, build networks, and thus accelerate the transition to sustainable energy sources.
Biodiversity
In the Czech Republic, the numbers of insects and birds that feed on the flowering edges of fields are dangerously decreasing. As a result of a number of economic interventions, there are fewer and fewer of them. And wetlands and other small biotopes have also decreased significantly. Biodiversity is essential for maintaining ecosystem services, such as crop pollination or water purification. The global financial loss caused by the loss of biodiversity could reach 2.7 trillion USD per year in 2030. Protecting biodiversity is therefore key to long-term economic stability and sustainable development. That is why Change for the Better, in cooperation with Charles University, is preparing an educational project on this very topic. We will be happy to tell you more about it during the event.
System change and cross-sectoral cooperation
The global shift towards sustainability cannot be promoted only by groups of conscious individuals and companies. It requires cooperation between the public and private sectors and quality leadership. The Advanced Czech Republic conference is therefore definitely not intended for a narrow circle of insiders. On the contrary, representatives from politicians, civil servants, academia, expert and non-profit organizations are also welcome. In lectures and discussions, we will focus on how to transform not only business, but also public administration. And how to motivate everyone? For example, by saying that the "green" transition creates millions of new jobs globally.
And all the funding connected to all of that.
We are not naive. We know that every real change costs something. Yes, the investment made will pay off over time. Whether directly in the form of higher income or indirectly by not suffering the damage that would inevitably occur without the transformation. But at the beginning, we need to secure the necessary money somehow. The global green bond market reached a cumulative value of 4.7 trillion USD in the spring of 2024. But we also need other (and more local) sources of financing. We will discuss the range of options from bank loans to venture capital investments.
